Alan has some 40 years of experience in the global mining industry, 27 of which were with the Anglo American DeBeers group of companies in coal, gold and diamond industry. When Alan left Anglo he was responsible for the South African operations of AngloGold, which employed more than 50,000 people and produced some 5 million ounces of gold per annum from deep level underground operations and from surface dump retreatment. During his time with Anglo Alan was assigned for a two year period as Consulting Mining Engineer to Anglo’s South American operations in Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, Argentina and Peru. The South American operations included a number of massive open pit and underground operations mining gold, silver, copper, niobium, iron ore and industrial minerals.
During his time with DeBeers Alan managed a number of the DeBeers diamond mines, including the Kimberley Mines, Finsch Mine and Koffiefontein Mine.
Since leaving Anglo Alan has taken various assignments as CEO in the junior mining industry including for New Diamond Corporation (South Africa), Lesotho Diamond Corporation (London/Lesotho), Kivu Resources (Rwanda and the DRC), Incubex Minerals (South Africa) and SepFluor Limited (also South Africa).
